The Heuer Heritage Calibre 17 is a perfect combination of the 1976 Monza and 2000 Monza. From two very different watches that in theory shouldn’t go together, this watch is the perfect blend of sporty yet formal. It can take you from the boardroom to the racetrack with its red and white themed dial. This dial being worn by champions, has to perform like a champion and so the need for a third dial, a Pulsometer scale, reading the watch-wearer’s euphoric pulse rate.
Adding to a vintage feel is the yellow lume, a naturally occurring colour change of the hour makers that the Heuer has made look effortless and fashionable. These yellow lume hour markers are a perfect match for the hands, as they are finished with an internal yellow lume, yet the seconds hand is a fire red, ticking closer to your successes. The dial has a sunburst finish, alluding to the fact that this watch will be present with you, night and day.
Being a perfect harmony timepiece, it has a square, yet rounded case design, a favourite of Tag Heuer collectors. The case giving a blackened look, from titanium-carbide coating, that when moved with light causes a shiny finish allowing you to almost see the track cars flying past you in the early morning. The watch’s stop and start crown is branded with the Heuer emblem , but the pusher is from the 2000 Monza a more formal, reserved timepiece.
All this comes together with a leather strap, a seat belt, strapping you in for the ride of the Monza Tag Heuer.
